Our Golf Performance Program is a comprehensive program designed specifically for the specialized needs and goals of golfers. Our program is designed to help you achieve your golfing goals. Whether your goals are to improve your accuracy, drive the ball further, prevent injuries, resolve current injuries and golf pain free, or a combination of these things, our Golf Performance Program will help get you there!
Prior to arriving for your Golfer Evaluation, we will email you a form with questions related to your golf game and your goals. We ask that you email or fax the form back to us prior to your session, if possible, so we can better focus our time and energy on your specific needs.
During your initial session, you will receive a Complete Golfer Evaluation. This includes:
***Golfer History Assessment: looks at a variety of factors which may affect your golf game including number of years playing, weekly playing frequency, previous/current injuries, handicap, type of clubs used, exercise history, and golfing goals(eliminating a hook or a slice, decreased back pain, increased drive distance, improved accuracy).
***Fitness Assessment(Optional): your current fitness level is assessed by obtaining a baseline blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation level, and then again obtaining these readings duirng and after walking on a treadmill at various speeds and inclines for comparison and assessment.
***Biomechanical Swing Assessment: this includes a breakdown of your balanace, weight shifting, and various key joints throughout your body during the setup, backswing, downswing and follow-through. This analysis is to ensure an efficent and maximized swing that will not put you at increased risk for injury. Additionally, we look at the grips on your clubs to ensure proper contact with the club. Finally, we look at proper positioning with regard to the ball during the swing and the putt.
***Musculoskeletal Assessment: this includes a complete assessment of your muscle strength and flexibility and how it relates to your golf swing, power and accuracy, and potential risk of injuries; a structural assessment to determine proper stance and club length; and a balance and agility assessment.
***Rehabilitation Assessment (if necessary): current injuries and pain are assessed, a Physical Therapy diagnosis is provided, and treatment of injury is initiated.
After this information is obtained, we apply it to develop an individualized program specific to your golfing needs, fitness level and goals. At the conclusion of the session you will receive:
1. A breakdown of your current golfing history, fitness level, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal assessment and how it relates to your golf game.
2. A Physical Therapy diagnosis of any current injury and initial treatment of the injury with recommendations for necessary follow up and/or treatment at home. Common injuries include medial epicondylitis(golfer's elbow), lateral epicondylitis(tennis elbow), rotator cuff strain, shoulder impingement/instability, guyon tunnel syndrome, low back injury/ pain, hip and knee pain.
3. A home exercise program tailored to your unique muscle strength and flexibility. It is designed to improve your areas of weakness and muscle tightness, to improve your golf game, decrease pain, and prevent injury.
4. Optional cardiovascular fitness program designed to prevent fatigue and improve endurance on the golf course so you can play strong throughout the entire 18 holes.
5. Optional interval golf program if you are returning to the golf course after an injury or after a long layoff. This program allows your body to reacclimate itself to the rigors of the golf swing while decreasing your risk for injury.
