Here are answers to some of our most popular questions. However, if you don't see the answer to your question, please call or email us. We will be glad to answer any questions you have!
We aim to provide you with a service and experience that is a cut above what you would typically experience. By choosing a private pay model rather than insurance we are able to: Provide one-one-one appointments, rather than seeing 4-5 people/ hour; Have each individualized appointment be a full hour long;Provide service ONLY by a Physical Therapist and never by an aide or an assistant; Provide services that are not typically covered by insurance companies including: biomechanical assessments, Running Results Program, Golf Program, Healthy Pregnancy Program, and Exercise and Sports Performance Programs; and put YOU back in control of your care by letting you decide how often, and for how long you would like to come.
We believe these advantages enable us to stand apart from the typical busy P.T. centers, where the physical therapists are usually seeing 4-5 people an hour. In those busy P.T. clinics, you can often get lost in the crowd, and not receive the individualized attention that is necessary for you to achieve you goals. This 'patient factory' approach, combined with ever increasing insurance co-payments (most are $20-40/visit), often results in an long and expensive course of rehab.
Our goal is to provide you with a quality individualized treatment the first time and every time. By doing this, we feel we are able to save you time and money by helping you achieve your goals faster!
We feel there are many reasons we stand apart from other Physical Therapy Centers! We provide hour long one-on-one appointments with a Physical Therapist every visit. We choose this approach rather than the 'patient factory' of seeing 4-5 people an hour, and handing off much of the care to P.T. assistants or aides. We aim to provide you with a quality and beneficial session every time you come.
In addition, our specialized golf, running, pregnancy, sports performance, and fitness for everyone programs, are programs unique to The Sports Performance and Physical Therapy Center. Most Physical Therapy centers provide strictly rehabilitation for injuries. We believe these comprehensive programs, tailored to your individualized goals and needs, allow us to stand apart and provide you with a very unique and beneficial service.
No. We are licensed as Direct Access Physical Therapists by the State Board of Physical Therapy and proudly display this license in our office. This means you are free to come see us without a prescription from a doctor. There are certain situations, where we will request a prescription or clearance from your doctor to ensure your safety. For example, we always request that our pregnant moms get clearance from their doctor to ensure that it is safe and healthy for you and the baby to exercise. In addition, our Direct Access license requires that we have the necessary education and knowledge to refer you to your doctor for issues out of the scope of our practice. So you can be assured we always have your health and safety as our first priority!
Yes! Although we have specialized sports programs for runners and golfers, we also cater to and specialize in sports performance for all sports. So whether you are a high school basketball player, a collegiate swimmer, a grade school soccer player, or a weekend flag football quarterback, we can provide you with an individualized program to meet you sports performance goals and/or injury needs. And as always, all sessions will be one-on-one session with a Physical Therapist.
As Physical Therapists, we are required to go through 6+ years of intensive schooling to earn a Master's Degree. We then must take the National Physical Therapy Board Examination, and upon passing this exam we may apply for our Physical Therapy license. All states have rigorous requirements for licensure that include graduation from an accredited program, passage of the National Board, passage of state law examination for Physical Therapists, and criminal background tests. After meeting all these requirements, you are then issued a Physical Therapist License. Personal trainers do not have to meet such requirements. They are not licensed professionals and no schooling or certification is required. Although there are many excellent personal trainers out there, this lack of regulation can make it difficult to know what level of service you truly are getting. Physical Therapists are the exercise and rehabilitation experts. The rigorous licensing process ensures that you are getting knowledgeable, safe, and helpful assistance. In addition, unlike personal trainers, as Physical Therapists we can provide P.T. diagnoses and rehabilitation for any injuries or pains. Only Physical Therapists are qualified and legally allowed to provide Physical Therapy for your injuries.
Physical Therapists are the exercise and rehabilitation experts. We understand the changes your body goes through during pregnancy, including hormonal changes, cardiovascular changes, musculoskeletal changes, edema, changes in body temperature, caloric expenditure and biomechanical changes. We are also aware of possible pregnancy complications including gestational diabetes and hyperthermia. We use this knowledge base, plus extensive review of current literature and research, and adherence to ACOG recommendations to design your individualized program. We also take into consideration your current level of fitness, pre-pregnancy fitness level, and physiological measurements to make your program truly unique to you. We are best qualified to establish a safe, healthy and beneficial exercise program. In addition, we can help prevent injuries and provide treatment for current musculoskeletal injuries and pain, get you back to feeling great and enjoying your pregnancy and your baby!
