Our Running Results Program is a comprehensive program designed specifically for the specialized needs and goals of runners. Our program is designed to help you achieve your running goals. Whether your goals are to improve your running performance, prevent injuries, resolve current injuries and run pain free, or a combination of these things, our Running Results program will help get you there!
Prior to arriving for your Runner Evaluation, we will email you a form with questions related to your running and your goals. We ask that you email or fax the form back to us prior to your session, if possible, so we can better focus our time and energy on your specific needs.
During your initial session, you will receive a Complete Runner Evaluation. This includes:
***Runner History Assessment: training factors are discussed including mileage, number of years running, type of running, running goals (improved speed, increased distance, weight loss, etc), running surfaces, frequency of running, current running speeds, injury history, speed workouts.
***Fitness Assessment: your current fitness level is assessed by obtaining a baseline blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation level, and then again obtaining these readings after running for post activity levels for comparison and assessment.
***Biomechanical Running Assessment: this includes a running gait assessment that looks at running specific factors including foot strike and foot position, stride length, hip rotation and movement, knee angle, posture, shoulder position, and arm swing, to identify inefficiencies and potential risks. A running shoe inspection to identify areas of increased wear and how it relates to potential stresses on the body and running inefficiencies is also performed.
***Musculoskeletal Assessment: this includes a complete assessment of your muscle strength and flexibility and how it relates to running, a structural assessment identifying leg length discrepancies and causes, a foot examination to determine arch support and foot biomechanics, and a balance and agility assessment.
***Rehabilitation Assessment(if necessary): current injuries and pain are assessed, a Physical Therapy diagnosis is provided, and treatment of injury is initiated.
After this information is obtained, we apply it to develop an individualized program specific to your running needs, fitness level and goals. At the conclusion of the session you will receive:
1. A breakdown of your current running history, fitness level, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal assessment and how it relates to your running.
2. A Physical Therapy diagnosis of any current injury and initial treatment of the injury with recommendations for necessary follow up and/or treatment at home.
